Archery Premier League 2026: Teams, Format, Live Streaming, Tickets - All You Need to Know for Season 2

Fresh from her gold medal-winning campaign at the 2026 Asian Games, Telangana archer Chikitha Taniparthi is ready to return to action as the Archery Premier League (APL) Season 2 begins in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The second edition of the world's only franchise-based archery league will be held from October 8 to 18 at People's Plaza on Necklace Road, bringing India's leading archers and several international stars together.

Chikitha Taniparthi Looks to Build on APL Experience

Taniparthi, who hails from Peddapalli, believes her experience in the inaugural APL season played an important role in her development. Having represented Chola Chiefs last year, she learned to adapt to the league's unique fast-paced format.

"During the first season of APL, playing for the Chola Chiefs, I learnt a lot about managing pressure under the faster shot clock of 15 seconds per arrow as well as learning techniques from my teammates while watching them train. It helped a lot in me getting better as an archer, and played a part in winning gold medal at the Asian Games," she said.

Playing in Hyderabad will make the occasion even more special for the Asian Games champion, who hopes the competition can inspire more youngsters, particularly girls, to take up archery.

APL Season 2 Brings Unique Format

The Archery Premier League 2026 will feature six franchise teams competing across recurve and compound disciplines. One of the league's biggest attractions is its faster format, with archers having an average of only 15 seconds to shoot each arrow.

Another major feature is the interaction between recurve and compound archers, while players who normally represent the same country internationally can find themselves competing against each other. The six teams have mixed squads comprising eight archers each, with 48 Indian and international competitors participating.

Six Teams, 18 Matches and a Grand Finale

APL Season 2 will follow a double round-robin format, with each team facing the others twice. In every match, four archers shoot two arrows per set, with two points available in each iteration.

The top four teams from the league stage will qualify for the semi-finals before the tournament culminates in the APL final on October 18.

The opening day features a repeat of last year's final between Rajputana Royals and Prithviraaj Yodhas, followed by Kakatiya Knights vs Mighty Marathas and Chero Archers vs Chola Chiefs.
