Armaan wins Formula Renault V6 Asia Race amidst technical flaws
New Delhi, July 22 (UNI) Braving serious technical problems, India's Armaan Ebrahim won the chequered flag in the Formula Renault V6 Asia Championship in Sentul, Indonesia here today.
Starting second on the grid, based on his second place finish in yesterday's sprint race, the 18-year-old Chennai racer made a superb start and went past pole sitter Aaron Lim into the first corner. But right from second lap, Armaan encountered gearbox problems in his car and by lap 15 the car's clutch started to slip, thereby slowing down his car a bit.
However, Armaan kept his concentration levels high and drove with the problems without letting it affect his composure. He took the chequered flag after 28 laps of close racing with James Winslow, who finished a clse second, a release stated.
''I don't know what to say. I just have to thank the 'Almighty' again and again. Every lap I thought the gearbox was gonna break,'' said elavated Armaan after the race.
''I just kept praying and also kept concentrating hard. I knew that despite the loss of time in the gearshifts, I had to keep my momentum through the corners and maintain the gap,'' he added.
