Chandigarh, July 17 (UNI) Army Green prevailed over Indian Navy with an aggregate 4-3 margin via tie-breaker in the 55th Inter-Services Hockey Championship here today.
The teams shared two goals in the regulation 70-minute session and 15 minutes of extra time.
Indian Navy struck early in the match by scoring through Chinglen Sana who converted a penalty in the fifth minute. The lead was neutralised by Army Green in the 15 th minute through Jerum Kujur.
Thereafter, both the teams resorted to defencisive play. As the stipulated session ended in a one-all draw, extra time of 15 minutes also failed to resolve the dispute and the organisers ordered the tie-breaker rule.
Army Green converted three strokes as against two scored by Indian Navy. Kartikeyan, Rajinder Singh and Varun Kumar scored for the Army Green, while Indian Navy were scored through Amrit Kiro and Sajit Lakra.
Tomorrow defending champions Army Red will cross swords with Indian Navy in the first semi-final and Army Green will face Indian Air Force in the second semi-final.
