Army mountaineering team to be flagged in

By Staff

Bhopal, Jul 21 (UNI) The 24-member Shahbaaz Division Mountaineering Expedition team, which has successfully scaled the twin Stok Kangri and Gulap Kangri peaks in Ladakh region's Zanskar Range, will be ''flagged in'' tomorrow at the 3 Electronics and Mechanical Engineers Centre in Bairagarh on the city's outskirts.

The team was flagged off here on May 21. The two peaks, with altitude of 20,200 feet and 19,750 ft respectively, have posed a formidable challenge to mountaineers the world over, an Indian Army release said here today.

The flagging-in is a unique event for the Shahbaaz Division and also for the city that would witness the culmination of a daring adventure activity. During the ceremony, a brochure on the expedition would be released followed by a presentation on the team's experiences by the team leader.

The tentative time for the ceremony is 1030 hrs at Somaiah Auditorium, the release added.
