Army to plant 5,000 saplings in Bhopal
Bhopal, Jun 27 (UNI) With the objective of spreading environmental awareness among people, 'Mission Greening India' is being launched by the 3 Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) Centre to mark 100 days for run up to the 4th Military World Games.
The army is proposing to plant 5,000 saplings -- including both environmental and fruit-bearing trees -- in the state capital.
The function will be held from July 8-15. Efforts would be made to involve students from schools and colleges, while concerning NGOs are taking part in the mission.
Earlier, more than 2,000 citizens, including soldiers, ex-servicemen, women, schoolchildren and college students, took part in a 'Run for Fun, Friendship and World Peace' in this City of Lakes on March 27.
The event was organised as a pre-cursor to the 4th Military World Games, a week-long affair to be held at Mumbai and Hyderabad from October 14, as per a release issued here today.
This four-yearly mega international sporting event is being conducted under aegis of the Council of International Military Sports and is expected to draw participation from 6,000 athletes and officials from 127 member nations, as per a release here today.
