Arsenal boss Wenger warns Man U will pay for missed chances

By Super Admin

London, Apr 30 (ANI): Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has warned his Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson for his team missed chances during Champions League semi-final.

"You will pay for Manchester United's missed chances," Wenger said after his club Arsenal lost the first leg of this Champions League semi-final 1-0, - but it should have been much worse.

Relieved Gunners boss Wenger taunted Ferguson, saying: "They can have regrets because they did not score a second goal.

"The return leg will be a good opportunity to show our character and mental strength. It is down to us to make sure they regret they didn't," The Sun quoted him, as saying.

"I am confident that you will see our strength of character - and next Tuesday I can talk about it in the Press conference after the game," he said.

"It will be our biggest win over United if we do it because there is a final at stake. And when we play at home and know that there is a final at stake we will be up for it.

"We will be up for it next Tuesday and I am confident we can do it. I believe we will be on top," Wenger added.

Irish midfielder John O'Shea fired United's winner after 18 minutes. But there was bad news for Ferguson on the injury front, with England defender Rio Ferdinand taken to hospital with a rib injury suffered late on in the showdown.

Red Devils boss Ferguson hit back at the Gunners, insisting Wenger should already be out of the competition given the chances United had. (ANI)
