Bangalore, Feb 26 (PTI): Veteran athlete Ashwini Nachappatoday urged Karnataka Government to constitute a committee ofsportspersons to draft a sports policy for the state to spotand encourage talent.
Ashwini, who is also the Vice-President of the CleanSports India, an organisation fighting to bring about goodgovernance and transparency in sports federations, in herletter to Minister for Sports G Janardhana Reddy stressed theneed for a sports policy.
"To make Karnataka a model state, it is extremely importantto initiate Sports Policy, contours of which must be draftedwith eminent sports persons of the state as well as officialsof Sports to enable us to have a comprehensive and transparentPolicy for the benefit of Sportspersons of our State followedby a Strong Sports Law to ensure good governance and Justiceto all Sportspersons of the State", she demanded.
This draft policy must also be circulated or put up on theministry�s site for suggestions and comments before finalisingthe same.
A committee should be formed with fair representation fromsports fraternity, federation and sports body, she demanded.
