That's all from our Live coverage of Day 2 of the Asian Athletics Championships 2023! MyKhel will return again tomorrow with all the action from Day 3 as Indian athletes will be vying for medals. This is your Aditya K Halder bidding you good bye for now!

The medal rush on third takes India to the third spot and are tied with China on the number of gold medals at the moment with Japan ahead of them.

Three gold and as many bronze medals for India so far!

Abdulla Aboobacker jumped his season best of 16.92m to win the men's triple jump Asian title! This is his second major medal since winning the Commonwealth Games silver medal last year. The athlete, however, must be wary of the fact that he is yet to go past the 17m-mark this season with World Championships coming up next!

Ajay Kumar Saroj receives the gold medal from Indian athletics federation chief (AFI) Adille Summariwala and then proudly sings the national anthem

3. Tejaswin Shankar 7527 points

Following some ups and downs in her career, including the controversy of being absent without leave from the national camp, 400m runner Aishwarya Mishra has bagged her first international medal. Nation's 400m relay hopes took a hit just before the tournament with a doping suspension to fellow quartermiler Anjali Devi Kundu, who was up until that point the quickest in the country!

The grit and determination of Tejaswin Shankar is commendable as the high jumper, who won the CWG bronze medal following a Court battle to find a place in the Indian team, has added another feather to his cap as an international decathlete medallist! The Delhi-born first proved his worth in the decathlon domestically by putting up a great show in the Inter-State and now has a bronze medal at the Asian-level! Take a bow, Champion!

Tejaswin Shankar has sealed the bronze medal as he finishes second in the 1500m final behind Japan's Taue! TJ, as he is popularly known as, has bagged his first international decathlon medal! Not to forget he is the current high jump national record holder and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist! What an athlete to win international medal in two disciplines!
Tejaswin Shankar has placed himself in a favourable position at third in the race with more than half of the race covered while Japans' Taue is in the lead!

While Tejaswin Shankar has a healthy lead at the third spot ahead of Japan's Shun Taue, the Indian is unlikely to catch another Japanese in lead Yuma Maruyama (7078 points) and 2nd placed Singkhon of Thailand (7034 points). The 1500m race is about to start as the final event of the day!

Tejaswin Shankar is the favourite to win his first international decathlon medal as the Indian competes in the last decathlon event of the tournament in the 1500m race. More details to follow...

4. Sanjivani Jadhav 34.04.47 seconds

Jyothi Yarraji wears her first major gold medal and hopefully the first of many to come as she makes the nation proud with 'Jana Gana Mana' being played out loud!

1. Abdullah Aboobacker 16.92m (Season best)

Abdullah Aboobacker added third gold to India's medal tally! The triple jumper leapt his season-best effort of 16.92 metre to seal the top spot ahead of Japan's Hikaru Ikehata (16.73m). Complete results to follow soon!

Sanjivani Jadav remains in the medal run with Japan's Haruka Kokai and Mongolia's Bayartsogt Munkhzaya ahead of her!
Long-distance runner Sanjivani Jadhav is currently competing in the women's 1500m final but is nowhere in the leading pack as Haruka Kokai is having a big lead in the race. One more final to go after this as Tejaswin Shankar will fight for medal in the final decathlon event in 1500m run!

1. Ajay Kumar 3.41.51 seconds; 11. Jinson Johnson 3:46.91 seconds

Fabulous show by Ajay Kumar as he is now the 1500m king of Asia! The Indian clocks 3:41.51 seconds to win the gold ahead of Japan's Yushuke Takashi. Jinson Johnson finishes down at 11th!

A brilliant run by Aishwarya Mishra (3rd with 52.07 seconds), who remained in contention for the gold medal until the last stretch before gold medallist Ramanayaka Nadeesha and Farida Solieva pulled away from her at the last stretch! Don't go anywhere as national record holder Jinson Johnson is up next in the 1500m final!

Aishwarya Kailash Mishra wins India third medal as the quartermiler won her first major medal with a third-place finish in the women's 400m final!

That was in fact new personal bests by both Indian runners! Muhammad Ajmal, who clocked 45.36 seconds in the final race while Rajesh Ramesh clocked 45.67 seconds. That's encouraging result for India as far as relay races are concerned!

Muhammed Ajmal finished just outside the medal places with a fourth spot finish in the men's 400m final while Rajesh Ramesh finished sixth. Japan dominated the final expectedly as Kentaro Sato took gold followed by Fuga Sato at the second spot!
What a run by Jyothi Yarraji, who was put under pressure by the Japanese duo of Asuka Terada and Masumi Aoki

GOLD MEDAL: JYOTHI YARRAJI 13.09 seconds; 5. Nithya Ramraj 13.55 seconds

All the hardwork had paid off for the youngster, who has been consistently delivering at the national and international stages after Jyothi Yarraji became the first Indian to breach sub-13 second mark. Since then, she has done it six times, including her 12.98 seconds effort in the qualifying heat. She probably would have done it again if not for the rain!

Jyothi Yarraji wins the 100m hurdles final! Clocks 13.09 under rain to win a close final against Japan's Asuka Terada, who clocked 13.13 seconds!

The women's 100m hurdles final is delayed following a false start. Yanni Wu was disqualified for the start but she is arguing that she couldn't hear the gun becuase of rain!

It's raining heavily at the Supachalasai Stadium in Bangkok! But when has that stopped athletics events from happening?
Tejaswin Shankar will resume his charge for his maiden international decathlon medal on Day 2 of the Asian Athletics Championship 2023 as an overnight leader at the Supachalasai National Stadium in Bangkok. The high jump national record holder won three of the five events on the opening day to take the lead with 4124 points. (Scroll down for Live updates)
