Hangzhou, September 27: Anantjeet Singh Naruka created history by winning the first-ever Asian Games sivler medal in skeet event at the ongoing Hangzhou 2022 on Wednesday (September 27).

Anantjeet shot 56 targets out of 60 to settle for silver as senior shooter from Kuwait, Abdullah Al-Rashidi clinched gold with a perfect score of 60, equalling the World Record set by India's Angad Vir Singh in 2018.

This was the second medal in Skeet for India and Anantjeet, who combined with compatriots Angad Vir Singh and Gujoat Singh to bag bronze in the men's skeet team event with a score of 355. China and Qatar won gold and silver respectively.

However, in the women's skeet event, the trio of Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Darshna Rathore and Ganemat Sekhon missed out on finishing on top of the podium as the 336 points saw them finish fourth in the team event with none of the three also earning a spot in individual final.

Apart from the disappointment in the women's skeet event, every other shooting event that India competed on Wednesday (September 27) saw them win at least one medal.

Earlier, Sift Kaur Samra bagged a gold in the women's 50m rifle 3P individual event in which Ashi Chouksey got a bronze medal to make it a double podium finish for India in the event.

Sift's 469.6 points in the final broke the world record as well as Asian record and the Asian Games record. Samra and Chouksey also bagged the team silver medal alongside Manini Kaushik with a total of 1754 points, just 19 shy of a gold.

Also, the women's 25m pistol trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan clinched a gold in the team event with a total of 1759 points before the 18-year-old Esha added the silver in the individaul event.
