The Asian Games 2023 will officially kick off on September 23 in Hangzhou. Although many events have already started, the opening ceremony of the event will take place on the day.
India men's Hockey Captain Harmanpreet Singh and Olympic medallist boxer Lovlina Borgohain will be the flag-bearers for the Indian contingent in the opening ceremony.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has decided both of them will be leading the Indian athletes in the competition's showcase event. It is reported that the IOA also opted for the joint venture of the two at the continental tournament.
Harmanpreet Singh recently led India to win the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy. The King of Drag Flick will be hoping to come out with the prestigious Gold this time around. Borgohain, the pugilist from North-East, will have her eyes on the biggest prize as well.
A total of 655 athletes from India will be taking part in the Asian Games this year. India won 70 medals in the last edition back in 2018, which included 16 Gold, 24 Silver and 30 Bronze medals.
