Five medals each in boxing, wrestling, rowing and squash also pushed India past their previous best-ever haul of 70 medals that came in Jakarta 2018 games. India currently sits in fourth place on the Asian Games 2023 medal tally with 95 medals - 22 gold, 34 silver and 39 bronze.

India had sent their biggest ever contingent to participate in the continental event and compete across various sports or disciplines from Athletics to Wrestling. Most delivered on their promise, taking India close to their 100-medal target.
Now, we take a look at how the century of medals can be breached on the penultimate day (October 7) when most of the events, including cricket, archery, kabaddi and badminton medal rounds take place?
With 95 medals already in the bag following the men's hockey gold, the target has got really close after four wrestlers won bronze and the recurve archers also added medals on Friday (October 6).
India just need another five medals to reach the 100 medals target in Hangzhou. And they are destined to hit their goal as several events like cricket, kabaddi adn archery are already assured of a medal.
While the men's cricket team will face Afghanistan in the gold medal match, the Men in Blue are surely assured of at least a silver, but they start as favourites for gold. So, that takes India's medal tally to 96.
Plus, the archers also are assured of three medals as Ojas Deotale and Abhishek Verma will compete in the men's compound individual final, guaranteeing a gold and silver, which takes the total tally to 98.
Also, Jyothi Surekha Vennam will be battling for gold in women's compound individual event. Regardless of her result, Vennam is also guaranteed to win a medal, which will take the tally to 99.
Aditi Swami, another compound archer, can also add a bronze in women's individual event and that could take the target to 100. Even if she doesn't win her bronze medal match, the 100-medal mark is expected to breach thanks to the kabaddi teams.
Both the men's kabaddi team and women's kabaddi team will be battling for gold, and regardless of their result, India's tally could go past 100 and reach 101 medals.
In badminton, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who will be in semifinal action later today, are also assured of a medal, meaning the tally could reach 102 medals.
Plus, the chess teams as well as wrestlers will be among other Indian players or teams also will be in medal contention. So, India is definitely set to breach the 100-medal mark.
