Hangzhou, September 24: India opened their medal account at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou with a silver in Shooting followed by two silvers and one bronze in Rowing events on Sunday (September 24).
While the women's shooting team won the first medal for the country at the 2023 Asian Games, the rowers added the second a few minutes later and finished the day with two more medals. With this, India took their medal tally to 4.

Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh and Ashi Chouksey finished with a total of 1886.0 points in Women's 10m Air Rifle team event to bag a silver at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre in Hangzhou. China clinched gold, while Mongolia bagged bronze.
Ramita and Mehuli Ghosh also entered the individual Women's 10m Air Rifle event, finishing second and fifth in the qualification event with 631.9 and 630.8 respectively. Ashi finished 29th with 623.3 and failed to qualify for the final, which will be held later on Sunday (September 24).
In the individual women's 10m air rifle final, Ramita clinched the bronze medal with 230.1, while Mehuli Ghosh finished fourth with 208.3. China's Yuting Huang claimed gold with a games record total of 252.7, while her compatriot Jiayu Han won silver with a total of 251.3.
In rowing, the duo of Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh clinched the second medal for India with another silver, having finished second in Men's Lightweight Sculls event with a timing of 6:28.18. China with a timing of 6:23.16 won gold, while Uzbekistan won bronze with a timing of 6:33.42.

The duo of Arjun and Arvind, who are from the Indian army, had finished 11th at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, but they went on to upset the odds at the Fuyang Water Sports Centre in Hangzhou, to seal their place on the podium.
Also, in Men's Pair final A, India's Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram added the third medal to the country's tally with a bronze after clocking 6:50.41 for a third place finish. For a change, Hong Kong won gold as China did not have any competitor in the final.
Later in the final event of Rowing on Sunday (September 24), the Indian team comprising of Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar, Ashish, Neeraj, Naresh Kalwaniya, Neetesh Kumar, Charanjeet Singh, DU Pande won the third silver medal for the country.
The Indian gave a close fight to the Chinese team, but had to settle for silver with a timing of 5:43.01. China won their sixth gold medal with a timing of 5:40.17, while Indonesia won bronze with a timing of 5:45.51.
Meanwhile, Satnam Singh and Parminder Singh, who challenged for second and third place in the men's doubles sculls event, finished sixth with a timing of 6:40.90. China once again bagged gold, making it four yellow metals in a row for the host nation.
The Indian women's four team of Aswathi PB, Mrunamayee Nilesh S, Thangjam Priya Devi, Rukmani also disappointed in the final with a fifth-placed finish after clocking 7:12.40. China made it five of five golds.
