Asian Games 2023: Indian 10m Air Rifle Team Strikes Gold with Record-Breaking Performance

Indian shooters have made a lasting impression at the Asian Games, securing three medals, including a highly sought-after team gold, through exceptional shooting skills.

In a remarkable display of marksmanship, the Indian shooting team showcased their dominance in the sport with an impressive total of five podium placements within just a span of two days of competition. This underscores India's remarkable prowess in the field of shooting.

Under the leadership of the teenage world champion Rudrankksh Patil, the Indian 10m air rifle team, filled with confidence, made history by clinching India's inaugural gold medal at the Asian Games. Their extraordinary achievement involved breaking a world record score on Monday, firmly solidifying their reputation as top-notch marksmen.

At the team event of the air rifle game, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar remarked, "We are really thrilled. Our Team got Gold Medal, which is India's world record. Individually, I also won a Bronze Medal, which brought me a Bundle of Happiness."

He further added, "We didn't know we were breaking a world record when we were playing individually, but now that we are aware of this accomplishment, we feel incredibly wonderful. It's a great time for us and the entire nation, he continued, hilariously with a smile on his face, We defeated China in China."

Rudrankksh Patil said, "I am also feeling pretty excited, my first Asian Games and gold medal for India with a world record, so I am really happy for our team and for India." We were only focused in our Individual event and wanted to concentrate on our own individual performances."

He further added, "We did not plan for the world record, but we all focused on our own performances, which is why we were able to take the world record, It was all thanks to our coaches, who taught us to focus on our own process and goals."

"I am extremely proud to have won the gold medal for India, and it is only because of the National Rifle Association, and Sai, and its support that we are here, and it is a really proud occasion, and I hope my parents are proud of me," Divyansh Singh Panwar said.

During the day, the Indian 10m air rifle team, composed of Rudrankksh Patil, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, delivered an outstanding performance. They collectively achieved a remarkable score of 1893.7 in the qualification round, effectively outperforming strong teams like China and South Korea to secure the coveted gold medal.
