Asian Games 2023: Indian Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team Win Gold With New World Record; Women's 10m Air Pistol Team Win Silver

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Kusale and Akhil Sheoran clinched the gold medal in the men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions team event at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou with a new world record total of 1769 points on Friday (September 29).

The Indian trio's total surpassed the previous world record held by USA of 1761 points. China won silver with a total of 1763, while Korea bagged bronze with a total of 1748. This is India's fifth gold medal and overall 15th medal in shooting at the Asian Games 2023.

Swapnil Kusale and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar shoot India to Asian Games 2023 gold in 50m Rifle 3 P Team Event

Tomar (591-27x) and Kusale (591-33x) finished joint top in the qualification round to progress to individual final with an Asian record and Asian Games record total of 591 points each. Sheoran finished in seventh with 587-30x points.

Women's 10m Air Pistol Team Win Silver

Earlier on Friday (September 29), the women's 10m Air Pistol team of Esha Singh, Divya TS and Palak continued the country's unstoppable run at shooting as they secured a silver medal in the team event.

With a total of 1731 points, India managed to get their hands on silver, falling just five short of gold, which was won by China with 1736 points. Chinese Taipei secured the bronze medal with 1723 points.

Esha with 579-17x and Palak with 577-23x also qualified for the individual final. The 10m Air Pistol women team medal was India's 14th in shooting at the Hangzhou meet, their best-ever performance at the continental meet in this discipline.

Earlier on Thursday (September 28), Sarabjot Singh, Shiva Narwal, and Arjun Singh Cheema bagged another gold medal for India in the Men's 10m Air Pistol Team. The Indian team finished one point ahead of silver medal holders China.

The match-up saw a comeback from Sarabjot Singh to qualify in fifth place for the final of the individual event. Arjun Singh Cheema qualified for the final in 8th place.

Shiva Narwal failed to qualify for the individual final finishing 14th but the Indian team's combined score was enough to edge out China by one point for Gold.

With 1734 points Indian team clinched the gold, China stood second with 1733 points and Vietnam secured the bronze with 1730 points. Now, India has won a total of 27 medals at the Asian Games Hangzhou, with seven gold, nine silver and 11 bronze medals.
