Asian Games 2023: Recurve Archery Teams Add To Medal Tally As Men's Team Win Silver and Women's Team Bag Bronze

Hangzhou, October 6: The Indian women's recurve archery team of Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur and Simranjeet Kaur secured a bronze medal in the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou on Friday (October 6).

The Indian trio beat Vietnamese team of Do Thi Anh Nguyet, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhi and Hoang Phuong Thao in the bronze medal match of women's recurve archery team event by a scoreline of 6-2.

The Indian team took the lead in the first set, but dropped the second set. However, they shot better in the remaining two sets compared to their Vietnamese counterparts to clinch the match and the medal.

Later, the men's recurve team of Atanu Das, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Tushar Shelke settled for a silver medal after going down 1-5 to Korea in the gold medal match. In the semifinal, India beat Bangladesh 5-3 after they needed a shoot-off to beat Mongolia in the quarterfinal.

Earlier on Friday (October 6), the Indian team had registered a 6-2 loss in the semifinal to South Korea, the team which went on to beat China in the gold medal match. In the quarterfinal, the Indian trio defeated Japan by a scoreline of 6-2.

Now, India has a total of five medals in archery at Hangzhou, with three of them being gold in the compound archery events. This also took India's total to 90 medals in Hangzhou, with 21 gold, 33 silver and 36 bronze medals.

The compound archers will also be in individual medal events action on Saturday (October 7) when they will look to add to the India's target of a 100 medals in Hangzhou.
