Asian Games 2023: Indian Rowers Win Bronze medal in Men's Four and Men's Quadruple

First Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar, and Ashish Goliyan demonstrated an excellent performance and secured a bronze medal in the men's fours rowing event in Hangzhou on Monday.

Later, Satnam Singh, Parminder Singh, Jakar Khan & Sukhmeet Singh added the second bronze of the day in rowing as they finished third in men's quadruple Final A with a timing of 6:08.61. China once again clinched gold, while Uzbekistan won silver.

India on Monday, opened its account in the gold medal tally with in Men's 10m Air Rifle Shooting. The record-breaking trio of Rudrankkash Balasaheb Patil, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar & Divyansh Singh Panwar created history at the Asian Games.

Asian Games 2023: Indian Rowers on the rise

Immersed in stiff competition, the quartet delivered a thrilling performance. Despite being fourth in the final 500 metres of the 2000 metre race, the team displayed exemplary coordination, finishing third with a time of 6:10.81. They were closely followed by China with a time of 6:10.04. Clinching the top spot was Uzbekistan with a crowning timing of 6:04.96.

Unfortunately, Indian rower Balraj Panwar fell short of securing a place on the podium in the men's single sculls category. The 24-year-old from Karnal, although leading in the top three at the 1500 metre mark, slipped to fourth place in the final 500 metres, timing 7:08.79. He finished less than nine seconds behind Hong Kong's Hin Chun Chiu, who bagged the bronze medal with a timing of 7:00.55. China's Liang Zang took the gold and Japan's Ryuta Arakawa secured silver.

With the recent victory, India's rowers have managed to secure two silver and four bronze medals in the Asian Games. Previously, India had bagged two silver and one bronze on Sunday. This accumulation of medals exhibits the fortitude and high spirits of Indian rowers on the international platform.

The remarkable performance of India's rowing team has indeed brought honor to the nation. With continued rigorous training and determination, the future holds immense potential for Indian rowers. The nation watches with baited breath as these stellar sportsmen pave the way for future Indian athletes.
