Official result

Indian athletics added another medal to their kitty but they can't be too happy with the result of this particular race as they were the defending champions.
Indian mixed 4x400m relay team finishes third in the final race behind gold medallists Bahrain and Sri Lanka!

Ancy Sojan fouls her last attempt but takes the silver medal in the Women's Long jump final with an attempt of 6.63m, which is also her personal best!

The 19-year-old long jumper will have to settle for a fifth spot as her final attempt was a 6.23m! Shaili breaks down after her final attempt in disappointment while Ancy Sojan will take her last attempt for a gold medal while she holds the silver-medal spot at 6.63m!

A 6.63m! That's huge by Ancy Sojan, who now has a personal best. Kudos to the Kerala athlete for bringing her best at the Asian Games 2023! Will she go all the way to the gold with an attempt left? 6.73m is the mark!

The jumper is still 0.3cm off the last medal spot held by Hong Kong China's Yue Nga Yan, who jumped 6.50cm! Shaili has one attempt left to get among medals!
Medal event: Mixed relay 4x400m finals (Team India) - 6:10 PM

Shaili Singh jumps a 6.31m while Ancy Sojan manages a 6.30m in their fourth attempts. Sumire Hata meanwhile has improved to a 6.48m but 6.73m remains the mark to beat as the Chinese Shiqi Xiong leads the chart!

Shaili Singh is down at fifth with 6.38m while Ancy holds the second spot. Shaili does have a habit of finding a big jump in the later rounds. Let's hope that the pattern will follow this evening!

Tejaswin Shankar separates himself from the pack in round 4 (his forte high jump) of Decathlon as he clears 2.09m while the rest of the pack are done with their attempts with overall leader Sun Qihao managing a 1.97m in second place! Tejaswin has a chance here to bag a lot of points and put himself at the top before events, where he has historically struggled!

A far cry from his national record of 20.55 seconds, Amlan Borgohain clocks 20.98 seconds to finish sixth while Japan's Koe Ueyama (20.60s) took the gold medal!

A big jump off her third attempt puts her back in the second spot behind China's Shiqi Xiong, who improved to a massive 6.73m! Shaili Singh, whose personal best is 6.76m, manages a disappointing 6.15m from her third attempt! Asian Champion Hata is struggling as well at 6.34m

A disappointing end for Pavithtra V, who couldn't breach the 4.10m height, her personal best from earlier in the season. Clearing as far as 4.00m meant she finishes fourth!

Ancy Sojan jumps a 6.49m of her second attempt to go ahead of Shaili Singh, whose second attempt was 6.34m. None of the Indians have attacked the jumping board yet as they are jumping before it! Meanwhile Yue Nga Yan jumps to second with a jump of 6.50m!

Official result

Parul Chaudhary clinches the silver medal in the women's 3000m steeplechase as she finishes behind World Champion Wilfred Yavi, who also breaks the Asian Games record! Priti Lamba meanwhile finishes a distant third to take the bronze medal in a photo finish with Bahrain's Tigest Getent!

High hopes of national record holder Parul Chaudhary in the event while compatriot Priti also runs with her. Asian record holder Winfred Yavi is the favourite for the gold medal but given Parul's record-breaking form this season, expect a fight from her!

A good start by Shaili Singh for the night as her first of the six attempts, places her second behind China's Shiqi Xiong sets the standard high at 6.62m! Will Shaili Singh break the national record (6.83m) of her mentor Anju Bobby George tonight? Her compatriot Ancy Sojan opens with a 6.13m jump while Asian Champion Sumire Hata is yet to start!
Tejaswin Shankar will resume at fifth spot on the leadersboard with China's Sun Qihao, who is just 57 points ahead of the Indian. A strong show here should surely propel the Indian to the top of the table as high jump is the forte of the Delhi-based athlete!
Expect medals gallore as athletics events get underway with Women's Pole Vault and Long jump finals taking place first! Vengatesh Parvathy is facing tough challenge from the two Chinese pole vaulters and Japan's Misaki Morota laying claims for medal but Shaili Singh and Ancy Sojan will fancy their chances of winning medals in the women's long jump. Shaili Singh will be wary of Japan's Sumire Hata, who beat her to the gold medal during Asian Championships earlier this year while China's Shiqi Xiong can't be discounted in front of fans!
