Asian Games 2023 Highlights October 4: Some of the big names of Indian sports will vie for gold medals on Wednesday as the nation resumes its medal tally at 69. Neeraj Chopra will return to the quadrennial event to defend his gold medal while Lovlina Borgohain will be aiming for her first Asiad medal.

That's all from our Live coverage of Asian Games 2023 Day 11 from Hangzhou as we saw India's medal haul rise to 81. The 2023 edition also became historic as India surpassed their previous gold medal show in the Asian Games history as well. That promises a lot more for the coming four days with the action beginning with the men's marathon at 4:30 AM! We bid you goodbye till then!

Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena finally collect their gold and silver medals respectively from Indian athletics president Adille Summariwala! It's followed by the National Anthem. Neeraj Chopra bids adieu to the 2023 season with World Championships and Asian Games title!

Everything that is on the offer to win in javelin has been collected by the reigning Olympic and World Champion! It's time now we enter the era of him winning all his titles multiple times while breach that unprecedented 90m mark!

What a show by the quartet of Muhammed Ajmal, Muhammed Anas, Amoj Jacob and Rajesh Ramesh this season. After taking the world by surprise with their sub-3 minute timing in World Championship in August and rewrite the Asian record, they come to Asian Games to take what is rightfully theirs: Asian Games Champions

As we wait for Neeraj Chopra's presentation ceremony, let's take a look at the medals tally as India went on a medal spree in the evening session of the athletics!

Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Kumar Jena: Men's Javelin throw final results and throw sequences
We are waiting for Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena to stand on the podium together as India took the gold and silver in a closely-fought intra-battle in the Men's Javelin Throw Final, scroll below to read all the updates from the Day 11 evening athletics action as Indian track and field stars won medals galore!
MEN'S HIGH JUMP: Sarvesh Kushare finishes 4th with a season-best effort of 2.26m, Jesse Sandesh finishes 7th with an attempt of 2.19m; WOMEN'S TRIPLE JUMP: Sheena Varkey finishes 4th with an effort of 13.34m

The Indian quartet clocks 3:01.58 seconds, which is slower than their Asian Record timing (2:59.05 secs), set during World Championships five weeks ago! An error in the official result, the timing, for obvious reasons, can't be the new National Record.

WHAT A DOMINANCE BY THE INDIANS! Anas started off bit slow but Amoj Jacob soon ran to take the lead of the pack, which was only increased by the Ajmal and Rajesh in the anchor leg! India bag another gold! Timings of the race to be updated soon as we are eager to see if they improve on their Asian record timing! Meanwhile Neeraj Chopra joins the quartet to celebrate the win!

We turn our focus to the Men's relay as Asian Record holders and the quartet of Rajesh Ramesh, Amoj Jacob, Ajmal and Muhammad Anas Yahiya now want the Asiad title!

Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Kumar Jena reign supreme at the Asian Games 2023 as India now stand tall in the continent as the leaders! Take a bow, Champions!

Neeraj Chopra fouls his last attempt but Kishore couldn't improve his last throw, which means the Olympic and World Champion has defended his Asian Games title! It's the second Asian Games on the go for Neeraj Chopra, the superstar!

WHAT A SHOW BY BOTH INDIANS! Neeraj Chopra arrives with the biggest throw of the night at 88.88m, which is also his season best! Meanwhile Kishore Jena improved on his personal best to a striking 87.54m! WHAT A DAY FOR INDIAN JAVELIN!

Despite a valiant effort from all four of the runners, especially by Subha Venkatesh pushing the giant Salwa Eid Nasser in the anchor lap, Bahrain break India's streak to take the gold medal. Kudos to India girl for not giving up without a fight as Bahrain improve their national record by more than 3 seconds. We return to Men's javelin Live coverage with Neeraj Chopra pushing Kishore Jena for gold!

Five-time defending champions India will take on Salwa Eid Nasser and Kemi Adekoya's Bahrain to defend their Asian Games gold medal! Will the quartet of Vithya, Aishwarya, Prachi and Subha Venkatesh stun everyone to beat Bahrain?

No one saw that coming! Kishore has been knocking on the door to breach the 85-mark for a while and he chooses a grand stage to do it. This Asian Games 2023 will be unforgettable for him all his life as he may defeat the reigning Olympic and World Champion to the Gold medal! What one loves the most about it, Neeraj Chopra was the first to hug and congratulate Kishore. For the record, the Paris Olympics qualification standard was 85.50m

Take a bow, Kishore Jena! The upcoming javelin thrower throws his career best of 86.77m! He qualifies for the Paris Olympics as well while surpassing his previous best of 84.77m! WHAT A DAY FOR THE ODISHA MAN!

Neeraj Chopra fouls his third attempt after being unhappy with his effort

Avinash Sable takes the silver medal in the Men's 5000m final while compatriot Gulveer Singh finishes outside meal position at fourth! Timings to be revealed soon
Avinash Sable is currently in action as he competes for another gold medal in the Men's 5000m final after winning the 3000m steeplechase gold couple of days ago!
The farcical refereeing call, distance-recording equipment malfunctioning! Two unwanted incidents in the same event! Men's Javelin throw is marred with controversies. Such ludicrous incident is rarely seen in top sporting events, but certainly shows Asian Games 2023 in a poor light. Not to forget, it hinders the athletes from focussing on their performances with so much at stake

Kishore Jena records a fair throw, which landed below 80m! However the lines official red flagged the throw, which took everyone by surprise, including Kishore and Neeraj Chopra. Neeraj soon approached the referee questioning the decision with Kishore! And the decision was soon reversed with video evidence confirming Kishore never crossed the eligible line for his throw! His second attempt is a 79.76m!

Neeraj Chopra is yet to enter the 85m mark after his 87-plus throw was not recorded! That 84.49m is still the biggest of the night! But one may expect Neeraj Chopra to end the night with a bigger throw

Neeraj Chopra is in the lead with his first attempt of 82.36m followed by Kishore Jena at 81.26! An Indian 1-2 in the opening stages of the Men's Javelin final!

WHAT A SHOW BY HARMILAN BAINS! That's her second silver medal at the Asian Games 2023! What a comeback by the 1500m national record holder, who missed out on the entire 2022 season due to an injury followed by surgery. Timings to be revealed soon as the second Indian in the fray Chanda Kumari finished outside the medal position!
Kishore Kumar Jena's opening attempt is an 81.26m! However, it's still hard to digest how Neeraj Chopra was denied his first throw. There's certainly going to be a talking point of the day if the World Champion doesn't finish at the top by the end of the event!

Neeraj Chopra starts with an 82.38m in his re-attempt! That's shorter than his last attempt. It's learnt that due to a technical problem with the distance-measuring device, his first attempt was not counted! An effort wasted for the World Champion!
