Asian Games 2023 Day 2 Highlights, September 25: India bagged their first gold medal at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games as the trio of Rudrankksh Patil, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar won the top honours Men's 10m Air Rifle team event on Monday.
The second yellow metal of the day for India came in yet another team event as the Indian women's cricket team secured its maiden gold medal in its debut. All the medal updates from Day 2 are below:

Koneru Humphy couldn't win any of her round 3 and 4 matches. After playing a draw earlier, the two-time Asiad champion lost to China's Yifan Hou in the Round 4 of women's individual rapid chess. All four Indian GMs will be in action again in the men's and women's individual round 6 & 7 tomorrow.
Vidit Gujarathi beats Vietnam's Le Tuan Minh in the fourth round to make it three wins out of four in two days. Meanwhile, Arjun Erigaisi played a draw against Iran's Seyedmohammadamin Tabatabaei after winning the round 3 of men's individual earlier today.

Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh defeated Uzbekistan's Islombek Khaydarov 2-1 to reach the quarterfinals in the men's 60kg Sanda

Nishant Dev beat Nepal's Dipesh Lama by unanimous verdict and sails into the pre-quarters of the men's 71kg! Results from Chess and Wushu are to follow next!

Nishant Dev was forced into defensive mode early on by Lama but the Indian kept on getting better in the round and made Lama suffer by the time bell rang

India finish seventh in the 8-nation relay final while Hong Kong China came last as they failed to finish the race. But it was South Koreans who dazzled as they beat hosts China and 16-time champions Japan to claim the gold medal with the new Asian Games record! Indian swimmers were more than 27 seconds behind the first-time Champions

Deepak Bhoriya beats Abdul Qaiyum Bin Ariffin by unanimous verdict in the men's 50kg preliminaries and reaches the pre-quarterfinals!

A split verdict of 4:1 for Deepak in the second round as he dropped intensity after taking lead in the first round and maintained a strong defensive stance with his footwork after Qayyum came hard at him after the bell! However, Deepak remained in command of the bout

Deepak efficiently moves around the ring and kept his Malaysian rival under pressure, picking up clean punches while maintaining distance in his defensive strategy.

Yang Liu has grown in confidence after taking the first round and took her game to Arundhati who often had to cope up with her rival's aggression! The Indian boxer, however, now needs to attack in the final round
