Asian Games 2023: Pakistan, Bangladesh and More: How India's neighbors fared in the Asian Games Medal Tally?

Asian Games 2023 Medals Tally: India have just accomplished all of their missions in the ongoing Hangzhou Asian Games. The Indian athletes have broken all previous records to amass 107 medals in the competition.

India reached never reached heights in Hangzhou, winning 107 medals in process. The Indian contingent comfortably surpassed their previous best of 70 medals in the Asian Games.

But let's have a look how the neighboring countries have performed in the Asian Games. Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar - all of the neighbors of India took part in the Asian Games.

Although the expectations from them was not as sky high as India, but it has been a disappointing outing for the other sub-continent nations in this Asian Games edition.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan had their best ever tally of 5 medals in the Asian Games 2023. They won 1 Silver and 4 Bronze medals.

Bhutan

A very few number of Bhutanese athletes performed in the Asian Games 2023. A total of 26 performers (10 men, 16 women) took part in it but they ended up without winning a single medal.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh won 2 Bronze Medals in the Asian Games. It was an improvement for them as they ended up without winning anything from the Jakarta event four years ago.

Myanmar

Myanmar have managed to win 3 medals in the Asian Games 2023. They won 1 Gold Medal and also won 2 Bronze medals in the competition. This is the third Asian Games edition in a row where the Burmese have only managed medals in single digits.

Nepal

Nepal have managed two Medals in the 2023 Asian Games, a Silver and a Bronze. This also means Nepal's best-ever Asian Games performance since 2006 Asian Games.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka have managed 5 medals in the 2023 Asian Games, which is their joint-second best medal count in a single edition, and the best since 2002 Busan Asian Games.

Pakistan

Pakistan's Asian Games medals tally has continued it's downward spiral as they could only manage 3 medals in Hangzhou. The Pakistani athletes could ony manage 1 Silver and 2 Bronzes.

All in all, the Indian neighbors have managed a total of 20 Medals combined. Out of them, the Sri Lanka and Myanmar managed 2 Gold medals, while the countries could only manage 5 Silvers and 13 Bronze medals.
