India Men’s Table Tennis Team Beat Pakistan 3-0 At Asian Games

India produced a dominant display to beat Pakistan 3-0 in the men's team table tennis competition at the Asian Games 2026 on Monday.

Harmeet Desai, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Payas Jain all won their respective singles matches as India wrapped up the tie without dropping a match, sealing victory with two rubbers still to play.

Harmeet sets the tone

Harmeet opened the tie against Mohammad Khan and immediately established India's superiority. He took the opening game 11-4 before extending his advantage with an 11-3 second game.

Khan struggled to cope with Harmeet's attacking game, and the Indian completed the sweep with an 11-5 win in the third game to put India 1-0 ahead.

Sathiyan was next up against Abbas Khan and was equally authoritative early on, racing to an 11-1 win in the opening game.

Abbas responded with greater resistance in the second, but Sathiyan regained control to take it 11-8. The Pakistani then pushed the Indian in the third, but Sathiyan held his nerve in the closing stages to win 11-9 and put India within one victory of the tie.

Payas completes the clean sweep

Payas Jain then faced Muhammad Khan with India needing just one more win to seal the contest.

There was little doubt about the outcome. Payas stormed through the opening game 11-2 and maintained his momentum to win the second 11-5.

He completed the 3-0 victory with an 11-5 win in the third game, giving India an emphatic finish to the tie.

The result puts India in a strong position to progress to the knockout stage, although the team had suffered a setback against Iran earlier in the competition. The women's team had also beaten Pakistan 3-0 earlier on Monday to book their place in the knockouts.
