Asian Games 2026: Roshibina Devi clinches Silver Medal in Wushu, creates History for India

India's Roshibina Devi has secured a silver medal in the women's 60kg Sanda event at the Asian Games 2026, completing a remarkable run of three consecutive Asian Games medals.

Roshibina had entered the competition as a two-time Asian Games medallist and continued her impressive record in Aichi-Nagoya. She defeated Bangladesh's Shika Khatun in the pre-quarterfinals before producing a dominant 5-0 win over Macau's Chu Man Sin in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinal, the Manipuri wushu star defeated Indonesia's Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0, booking her place in the final and guaranteeing another silver medal.

Roshibina Devi loses Final

In the final against China's Xiaoyu Zhang, Roshibina Devi fell short. With a 2-0 scoreline, the Chinese clinched the gold, but the Indian retained her Silver from the games four years ago.

This was also her third Asian Games medal, creating history for India as she became the first Indian to do that.

Her medal at Aichi-Nagoya also makes Roshibina the first Indian wushu athlete to win medals at three successive Asian Games.

Born on December 30, 2000, in Manipur, Roshibina has become one of India's leading wushu athletes. She was also honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2023 following her silver-medal performance at Hangzhou.

Her latest medal is particularly significant because Roshibina was not originally selected for the Aichi-Nagoya Games. She returned to the squad after Divyanshi Choudhary was ruled out with an injury, and made the opportunity count with another memorable Asian Games campaign.
