Asian Games 2026: Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod and Ashi Chouksey Bag Silver in 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team Event

India secured another podium finish in shooting at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Saturday, with Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa K. Vinod and Ashi Chouksey claiming silver in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions team competition.

The Indian combination posted an aggregate of 1763 to finish second behind China. The Chinese squad registered 1773, equalling the Asian Games record it had established at Hangzhou in 2023. Kazakhstan completed the podium with a score of 1754.

The team result also paved the way for two Indians to compete for an individual medal later in the day. Tilottama and Vidarsa made the eight-athlete final after strong displays in qualification, while Ashi missed the cut.

Tilottama was the standout performer among the Indian contingent, registering 590 points to finish third in the qualifying standings. Vidarsa secured sixth place with 588 following a late surge that lifted her into the final positions.

Ashi finished 15th with 585 and could not advance to the medal round.

The qualification stage featured three positions - kneeling, prone and standing. After the opening two stages, Ashi and Tilottama were tied at 395 points. Ashi, however, had a marginal advantage in inner 10s, recording 25 compared to Tilottama's 23.

Tilottama produced an impressive standing round to move into the top three and secure her place in the final. Vidarsa, meanwhile, staged a crucial comeback during the closing stages of qualification, climbing into sixth position to join her teammate in the medal contest.

The silver medal further strengthened India's overall showing at the Games. The country has now collected 25 medals, comprising two gold, 11 silver and 12 bronze.

With two Indian shooters advancing to the individual final, the nation will have another chance to add to its medal tally when the event resumes at 9:30am IST.
