Asian Games: Kamaljeet-Inderjeet Seal India's Second Gold in 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Event

Nagoya, Sep 25: India got its first gold medal in shooting at the Asian Games as Kamaljeet and Suruchi Inder Singh won the 10m air pistol mixed team event. It was the second gold medal for the Indian team after the women's cricket team secured the first gold medal for the country. The Indian pair achieved a final score of 484.6 points, setting up both a games record and the asian record in the process.

South Korea finished second to claim silver with 478.0 points, while Iran finished third with 415.8 points to claim the bronze medal. Indonesia finished outside the medal position to score 349.4 points and was eliminated from the medal race.

The Indian duo were on target right from the start and managed to break the Asian record, which was set by Uzbekistan in February 2026 at the Asian Shooting Championships in New Delhi.

Suruchi and Kamaljeet took control of the final from the outset, putting together a strong opening series of 103 points to move into first place. South Korea began with 98.1, while Iran and Indonesia recorded 98.0 and 95.2 points respectively.

India continued to hold the advantage in the second series, adding 99.4 points to take their cumulative score to 202.4. South Korea responded with its best effort of the opening stage, scoring 103.1 to close the gap, but remained behind at 201.2.

The Indian duo strengthened their position once again in the third series, producing 101.1 points and taking their overall tally to 303.5. South Korea managed 99 points to reach 300.2, with Iran and Indonesia further back on 295.0 and 291.0.

The competition then moved into Stage 2, where India added 61.2 points in the first series. That took the leaders to 364.7 and increased their cushion over South Korea to 5.8 points, while Indonesia's lower score resulted in their elimination.

India remained in front after the second Stage 2 series, extending the advantage to 8.4 points with a total of 424.9. South Korea stood second on 416.5, narrowly ahead of Iran at 415.8.

South Korea attempted to close the deficit in the final series, but the Indian pair held their nerve and preserved their lead until the finish. Suruchi and Kamaljeet eventually secured victory by 6.6 points over South Korea, with their final tally falling just four points shy of the existing world record.
