The official result is out and Tejas Shirse clocks a 7.80 seconds to finish fifth in the 60m hurdles final. The timing is slower than his heat 2 timing of 7.75 seconds. Kazakhstan's David Yefremov claims the gold medal with a timing of 7.60 seconds.
It looks like Tejas Shirse finishes fifth as four runners almost run parallelly ahead of him for a photo finish! We will await the official confirmation

They are going to restart the race as Iraq's Salih Nasser is at fault for the restart. The Iraqi is disqualified from the final!

The heat 2 is over and by the looks of it Tejas Shirse has finished a close second following a good recovery as he hit the second hurdle after the start! Timings to be updated soon

The second heat of 60m hurdles is all set to start with Tejas Shirse at Lane 6. His personal best is a 7.94 seconds at this very event last year. He couldn't go beyond the heats with that effort last year and will have to improve his personal best significantly for an impact as the heat 1 had a top speed of 7.80 seconds
The evening session begins with 60m hurdles while Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Dhanvir Singh are competing in the shot put final as well. Updates to follow!

India's Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2024 campaign gets underway on Saturday (February 17) as four Indian women athletes will be in action in the morning session on Day 1 at the Aftab e Enghelab Sports Complex in Tehran.
The Asian Athletics Association has been hosting the biennial Asian Indoor Athletics Championships since 2004. Eight female and seven male athletes from India are in Tehran. India will watch the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships live in 2024.
Last year at the Asian Indoor Championships, India's lone gold medallist was none other than Asian Games winner Tajinderpal Singh Toor. In contrast, Jyothi Yarraji is the current Asian outdoor 100-meter hurdles champion. She set a national record in the 60-meter hurdles last year, finishing second at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships.
In addition, runners Ajay Kumar Saroj and Harmilan Bains are part of the Indian athletics team traveling to Tehran. At the Asian Games, Harmilan Bains won silver in the women's 800 and 1500 meters. Bains, nevertheless, will only participate in the Tehran 1500-meter race. The silver medallist from the Asian Games, Saroj, will participate in the men's 1500m.
Shaili Singh, who won a silver medal in the women's long jump at the 2021 U20 World Athletics Championships, is competing as well. Gulveer Singh, the bronze medallist in the 10,000m at the Asian Games, will participate in the men's 3000m competition in Tehran.
With one gold, six silvers, and one bronze medal from the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Astana last year, India's 25-member delegation came home with eight medals. The Indian team also includes Pavithra Venkatesh, who won silver in the women's pole vault in the previous year.
