Asian stalwarts to swing for richest golf event in South India

Bangalore, Feb 9 (UNI) Top notch golfing talents from Asia are all set to swing their clubs for the Rs 60 lakh on offer at the Solaris Global Green Open to be played at the Bangalore Golf Club (BGC) from February 22-25.

The richest tournament in South India will also have the largest field to play in an Indian professional golf event with over 120 players expected to participate.

The 2003 Volkswagen Masters winner, Rahil Gangjee, 2002 Hero Honda Masters champion Harmeet Kahlon, Indian Tour Order of Merit winner Mukesh Kumar and 2002 Indian Open champion Vijay Kumar who has over 60 tournament victories on Indian soil to his credit will lead the local challenge.

However, tough competition is expected from contemporaries like SSP Chowrasia, Digvijay Singh, Gurbaaz Mann, Uttam Singh Mundy, Ashok Kumar, among others.

Myanmar's Zaw Moe, Soe Kyaw Naing Singapore's Lam Chih-Bing, Changren Chiat and Japanese Tour players Craig McLean, Shinji Fukushima and Kentaro Ishihara, will lend international flavour to the event and offer India's leading professionals tough competition on home soil.

The winner of the event will take home Rs 972,000 (Nine Lakh Seventy-Two Thousand).
