Organised by the newly recognised Asian Boxing Confederation under World Boxing, the championship witnessed another day of Indian dominance as Aman Siwach (63kg) and Devansh (80kg) blazed through their U-17 boys' quarterfinals with emphatic Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) victories. Siwach overwhelmed the Philippines' Ziadrach James Cabrera in the second round, while Devansh bulldozed Jordan's Abdallah Aldabbas with a third-round RSC finish, both cementing India's growing stature in the ring.
In the U-17 girls' division, the action was just as electrifying. Simranjeet Kaur (60kg) showed off her technique and ringcraft in a polished 5-0 unanimous win over Jordan's Aya Alhasanat. Meanwhile, Himanshi (70kg) wasted no time, dispatching Palestine's Farah Abou Layla with a first-round RSC, delivering a thunderous statement of intent heading into the semis.
These four join the long list of Indian semifinalists, ensuring at least 25 medals in the U-15 category and 18 in U-17, since all semifinalists are guaranteed at least bronze. This brings the total confirmed medal haul to 43-a stunning achievement at a tournament making its debut on the Asian boxing calendar.
While the Indian camp had plenty to celebrate, the day wasn't without its share of heartbreaks. In the men's U-17 section, Sahil Duhan (60kg) went down fighting against Iran's Amirali Mehrabi in a close 2:3 split decision. Anant Deshmukh (66kg), Priyansh Sehrawat (75kg), and Loven Gulia (80+kg) were outclassed by boxers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Iran respectively, all losing by unanimous decisions.
Nevertheless, the focus remained on the shining stars. Aman and Devansh's explosive wins particularly drew attention, with coaches lauding their grit and aggression. "These boys are showing excellent temperament under pressure. Their ability to dominate across rounds speaks volumes about their preparation," said a member of India's coaching staff.
