India is set to make history by hosting the 20th Asian Women's Handball Championship for the first time, from December 3 to 10, 2024, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
Presented by the World Handball League (WHL) and organized by the Asian Handball Federation, this prestigious tournament will feature some of Asia's top teams, including 16-time champion South Korea, Japan, China, and Kazakhstan.

All the eight teams will be competing for continental glory and qualification to the 2025 IHF World Women's Handball Championship in Germany and the Netherlands. The top four from the tournament will head to the WHC next year.
The tournament will start with the preliminary group stage that will see the eight teams be divided into two groups of four with each team facing the other from their respective groups once before the knockout stage.
In the knockout stage, the top four (top two from both groups) from the group stage will face off in the semifinal, 3rd place playoff and final, while the bottom four will clash to playing classification for positions 5th to 8th.
As for the groups, India is drawn in Group A alongside Japan, Iran and Hong Kong, China, while Group B consists of Kazakhstan, Singapore, China and South Korea. Here is a look at the schedule followed by the live streaming and telecast details for AWCH 2024:
Asian Women's Handball Championship live streaming will be available on SportCast India's YouTube channel, while the World Handball League (WHL) aims to establish handball as a mainstream sport in India through its partnership with Doordarshan.
By broadcasting the championship on Doordarshan's extensive network, WHL seeks to introduce the sport to millions of viewers across the country.
This collaboration will provide exclusive content, sparking interest and building a new community of handball enthusiasts in India. DD Broadcast will include highlights aired at prime time and live coverage on finals day.
