{image-mohammad asif_25092008.jpg news.oneindia.in}Lahore, Sep 25: Controversial fast bowler Mohammad Asif is eager to appear before the IPL tribunal and clear himself of dope charges.
''I am anxiously waiting to put my case before the IPL tribunal because I want to get my name cleared and return to where I belong - the cricket grounds,'' Asif told mediapersons yesterday. ''I am confident that I will get cleared on the basis of discrepancies in the quantity, but the first thing is to get a hearing where I can prove myself,'' he added.
The tribunal will be precided over by a three-man panel set up by the IPL including former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, Doctor Ravi Bapat and lawyer Shirish Gupte.
The hearing was originally scheduled for August 30, but Asif had asked for it to be pushed back. If Asif is banned by the IPL, it will apply to both domestic and international cricket as it is officially sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
But Asif is determined to clear his name and bring his career back on track.
''I have already missed a lot of cricket. My whole career has suffered badly in the last few months and once I return I will make sure that no untoward incident happens again,'' he stated.
