Assam, CRPF win gold in Sr Women Nationals

Vijayawada, Jan 13 (UNI) Bronze medallist in Junior Asian Judo championship and former national champion Tombi Devi of Assam today won the gold in below 48-kg women category final of the Senior Women National Judo championship being held at DRRMC Indoor Stadium here.

The silver went to Janitha of Haryana and the bronze medals were bagged by Bem Bem Devi of CRPF and O Rajeshwari of Manipur, defeating Nisa of Chandigarh and Ruchi of Uttar Pradesh respectively.

In the below 52-kg final, defending champion and Arjun awardee A Anitha Chanu of CRPF won the gold, Aruna, two-time national champion of Haryana, silver, Gomathi Chanu of Assam, Sazida of Punjab got bronze medals defeating S Ibitombi Devi of Mizoram and Rekha Rathod of Rajasthan respectively.

In the below 57-kg category, defending champion and 2004 Commonwealth Judo championship silver medalist L Nirupama Devi got the gold, Harpreeth Kaur of Punjab silver, Nidhi of Haryana and Brojeshwari Devi of Assam bronze, each defeating Surekha of Maharashtra (B) and Gagandeep Kaur of Rajasthan in the final respectively.
