Assam to host 12th NE sports festival

Guwahati, Jan 23 (UNI) Assam will host the 12th edition of the North Eastern Sports festival scheduled to start from January 30 here.

All preparations for holding the festival have been completed and it will be organised in the Sarusazai sports complex.

About 2,000 athletes from eight states of the region are expected to participate in the four-day long event.

An organising committee has been constituted under the presidentship of the Chief Secretary to conduct the festival.

The competition will be held in the field of Kho kho, Athletics, Table Tennis, Football, Badminton, Judo, Karrate among others.

This kind of sports festival in the state would further strengthen the brotherhood, peace and harmony, official sources said.
