Aston Villa tattoo found on dead Taliban recruit's body

London, June 15 (ANI): A Taliban recruit was sporting the Premier League side Aston Villa's lion emblem when he died with fellow fanatics in a gun battle in Afghanistan. British military source described the discovery as shocking.

"Guys we were fighting against supported the same football clubs as us - and maybe we even grew up on the same streets."

According to The Sun, the tattoo is the latest proof that the lives of Britain's 8,300 troops in the war-torn country are in peril from Muslim extremists raised here.

Last year, The Sun told how RAF radio experts eavesdropping on Afghan terrorists picked up Brit accents.

"It's also been well-known for some time among soldiers in Afghanistan that at least one Aston Villa fan was fighting for the Taliban."

A Whitehall official admitted: "Details of Aston Villa fans in the Taliban does not shock or surprise me.

Veteran terror expert Chris Dobson said of the Birmingham club's supporter: "It looks like he has gone from the terraces of Villa Park to the badlands of Afghanistan.

This is homegrown terrorism being exported. It underlines the threat that terrorist recruiters pose here." (ANI)
