Attackers stab two Red Star fans in Greece

ATHENS, Nov 8 (Reuters) Unknown attackers stabbed two Red Star Belgrade supporters today, injuring one of them seriously, ahead of their club's UEFA Cup match against local team Aris in the northern city of Thessaloniki, police said.

''Both supporters have been taken to hospital and one of them is seriously injured,'' a police official said.

The Red Star fans had travelled from Serbia for today's Group F match and were sitting at a central Thessaloniki cafe owned by a Serb basketball player when they were attacked by a group of masked men with sharp objects, police said.

''Officers arrived only minutes after the incident but the attackers had fled,'' the official said.

Aris are coached by Dusan Bajevic, who walked out on Red Star last year during a league match jeered by angry fans.
