Atwal barely makes cut
Valdosta, Georgia, Apr 14 (UNI) A couple of birdies on backward journey spared him of the axe as Arjun Atwal played an erratic one-over 73 Round Two to barely make the cut in the Nationwide Tour's South Georgia Classic here.
Playing his second tournament after his high-speed car crash last month, Atwal was in the relegation zone after a miserable front nine which was marred by five bogeys as against just two birdies.
However, he salvaged himself by gaining two shots on the 11th and 14th hole. Overnight tied 31, Atwal slipped to tied 42nd with a two-day aggregate of 144.
The cut was applied at one-over 145.
Meanwhile, qualifier Paul Dickinson shot a second-round one-under 71 to move to nine under with a one-stroke lead over Steve Bowditch halfway through the inaugural 600,000 dollar tournament.
