Atwal disappoints at Buick Open, finishes tied 70th
Detroit, July 2 (UNI) A bogey-free back nine was not enough for Arjun Atwal to return better than an even par 72 card in the final round as the Indian finished tied 70th in the Buick open here.
US-based Atwal paid the price of a horrible front nine in which he sank two bogeys and one double bogey in return for one birdie and a better back nine with birdies on sixth and hatrick of birdies -- from 14th to 16th, that saw him end the day at 72 for a four-day aggregate of two-under 286 Meanwhile, Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra finished tied 49th after a final round 72 for a total of six-under 282 at the Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club.
Chopra had four birdies and a bogey in his front nine. But, two bogeys and a double bogey --at the 11th hole -- at the back nine saw him end at 72 for a total of six-under 282.
Brian Bateman of United States emerged champion with a final round 69 for a total 15-under 273.
