Atwal finishes tied 22 after first round of AT
Duluth (Georgia), May 18 (UNI) Ajrun Atwal made a good comeback on the US PGA Tour carding a two-under 70 for tied 22 after the first round of the AT&T classic here.
Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra was a shot behind at tied 49th spot.
Leading the field was American Kevin Sutherland who carded a suberb seven-under 65 studded with eight birdies.
Atwal made a strong start with birdies in the fourth, 11th, 15th holes but could not hold on to it as he made successive bogeys on the next two before signing off with another birdie on the last.
A tenth tee starter, Chopra picked a birdie on 13th hole and made the turn at one under. His front nine was more eventful as he began with a dropped shot. He recovered with two birdies on the next three but fumbled in the end by making a bogey on the last.
Asian stars Kevin Na of Korea carded a two-under 70 with four birdies and one double bogey to share the 22nd spot while Daisuke Maruyama of Japan finished tied 49th with a shot of one-under 71.
