Audi Quattro Cup to tee off tomorrow

Pune, Jan 27 (PTI) A mint fresh edition of the AudiQuattro Cup 2011 is all set to tee off with back-to-backevents in Pune and Mumbai respectively.

While the exotic Oxford Golf and Country Club hosts thefirst event of the season tomorrow, the renowned BombayPresidency Golf Club will host the second leg on Saturday.

The 7-star golf event is presented by Audi Finance.

Played on a unique "Greensome Stableford" format, inwhich a team consists of two golfers drawn randomly, the toptwo will qualify for the Audi India Quattro Cup finals.

The winning team from the Audi India tournament will thenqualify for the world finals of Audi Quattro Cup, to be heldin Schenzen, China, which also hosts the World Cup of Golf.

The Audi Quattro Cup series, established in 1991, hasbecome one of the most celebrated amateur golf tournaments inthe world bringing together over 85000 golfers from 44countries.

The Indian circuit of Audi Quattro Cup will visit nineother cities making it a 11-leg series, and would see almost1200 golfers in action.

"Audi has been committed to the sport of golf for almosttwo decades. The sport, which stands for precision andtechnique, truly embodies Audi''s philosophy of ''Vorsprungdurch Technik''. The Audi Quattro Cup is ranked amongst thebiggest and most popular amateur golf tournaments worldwide,"said Michael Perschke, director, Audi India.

"The tournament, which enters its fourth season in India,has emerged as not just a popular sporting event but also asan ideal opportunity to intensify business relationships andestablish new contacts," he added.

Apart from the main prizes, the various skills prizes areexpected to keep all the participants enthused.

The golfers will also get an opportunity to interact andtake some golfing tips from Cameron Venter, a professionalfrom South Africa who will drive on behalf of every team on aparticular hole.

The team will have a choice of using the professional''stee shot or one of the team member''s shot.

The Oxford Golf and Country Club and the BombayPresidency Golf Club are ready to host the mega event.
