Aussie expert satisfied but says security still needs enhancement

By Staff

Karachi, Jun 29 (UNI) While the concern over security in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy has been an evergrowing issue for many players, Australian security expert Reg Dickason has expressed his satisfaction over steps taken by the PCB to hold the tournament in September this year.

Dickason, who is also representing England and Wales Cricket Board and New Zealand Cricket Board arrived here yesterday, for his two-day visit to assess the arrangements, along with a four-member ICC delegation.

Dickason said the arrangements looked inspiring and praised the PCB for its efforts for the Champions Trophy.

''Things look brilliant, the PCB and security agencies are working hard to hold the Asia Cup. It's a reasonable start. Some fine tuning needs to be done and everyone acknowledges that.

But in time the security situation will be enhanced,'' Dickason said.

However, the Aussie expert denied to give any conclusive statement about the security in the country.

''I have just started my visit and it would be premature to give any final assessment but the initial one is very satisfactory,'' he added.

Dickason is also closely monitoring the security arrangements for the ongoing Asia Cup and went to several enclosures at the National Stadium here yesterday.

But the expert suggested that the PCB can still enhance the security for the biennial tournament.
