Asian Senior Weightlifting 2026: Indian lifters bag three bronze medals on Day 3
China and PRK led the medals on Day 3 of the 2026 AWF Asian Senior (Men & Women) Weightlifting Championships in Gandhinagar on Wednesday (May 13). The sessions featured strong totals across three categories. India also improved its count through a Bronze Medal in the Women’s 53 kg class. Vietnam added medals in two women’s events.
In the Women’s 53 kg event, Jinlan Zhao of China took Gold with 216 kg. Vietnam’s Hoai Huong Nguyen earned Silver at 195 kg. India’s Gyaneshwari Yadav finished third with 194 kg. The lift drew applause from the home crowd. The medal order came from close totals.

The Men’s 65 kg podium included two Chinese lifters and one from PRK. Yueji He of China won Gold with a 329 kg total. Myong Jin Pak of PRK secured Silver with 321 kg. China’s Hongjee Ding claimed Bronze with 319 kg. The totals separated the medals by 10 kg.
In the Women’s 58 kg category, II Gyong Kim of PRK topped the standings. II Gyong Kim won Gold with a 230 kg total. China’s Tingna Wei earned Silver at 225 kg. Vietnam’s Thi Tam Quang took Bronze with 221 kg. The results showed tight margins in the top three.
