In a striking leap forward for India's sports infrastructure, Axis Bank, one of the nation's premier private sector banks, has partnered with the esteemed Lakshya Shooting Club (LSC) to establish a cutting-edge High-Performance Shooting Centre in Navi Mumbai.
The collaboration is a part of Axis Bank's larger commitment to nurturing India's sporting talent and creating international-standard facilities that can shape the champions of tomorrow.

The partnership was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Mr. Vijay Mulbagal, Group Executive & Head - Wholesale Bank Coverage & Sustainability at Axis Bank, and Ms. Suma Shirur, Olympian and Chairman of Lakshya Shooting Club. The ceremony, held in Mumbai, was attended by several senior executives from Axis Bank, reflecting the significance of this strategic move.
Dubbed the Axis Bank Lakshya Shooting Club High Performance Centre, this exclusive facility is set to raise the bar for Indian shooting sports. Designed to support over 400 athletes annually, the Centre will offer world-class training infrastructure, a specialised sports science unit, and mental health support systems-all tailored to nurture both emerging and elite shooters. From precision-driven equipment to high-tech analysis tools, the Centre promises to be a game-changer.
True to its inclusive vision, the Centre will also cater to para-athletes, including those who have already represented the nation at the Paralympics and Deaflympics. Residential provisions for athletes and coaches further enhance its reputation as a holistic hub for sporting excellence.
Lakshya Shooting Club, under the leadership of Ms. Shirur-an Olympian and recipient of both the Arjuna and Dronacharya Awards-has long been a cradle for young Indian shooters. The Club has an impressive legacy, recently coaching the national team to a historic medal-winning performance at the Paris Olympics 2024.
"This partnership with Axis Bank brings us one step closer to our dream-a place where budding shooters are given the right guidance and resources to thrive," said Ms. Shirur. "We aim to build not just champions, but confident and resilient individuals."
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Vijay Mulbagal expressed, "We are proud to support the nation's shooting talent with infrastructure that meets global benchmarks. This Centre is not just a facility-it's a stepping stone for Indian athletes aiming for Olympic glory."
Among the key features of the Centre are two advanced shooting ranges for Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and simulated 50m Rifle disciplines, a fully equipped sports science and injury recovery wing, and a dedicated Sports Psychology unit to ensure holistic development.
By investing in such facilities, Axis Bank reinforces its role not only as a financial institution but also as a catalyst for national progress through sport. The Axis Bank Lakshya Shooting Club High Performance Centre is poised to become a beacon for excellence in shooting-firing up dreams, ambition, and precision for generations to come.
