Azhar inaugurates modern swimming pool in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Mar 28 (UNI) Former Indian cricket team captain Mohammed Azharuddin today inaugurated the redesigned swimming pool of Rajpath Club here.

The pool, refurbished with latest water filtration technology and chlorination plant, was one of the three activities he inaugurated.

Azhar also launched a health club with latest equipment and a synthetic tennis court.

Tonny Dell (CEO of Australian International Sports Academy), Eddo Brandes (former Zimbabwe cricketer) and Father Joseph Arroyo, former best footballer of Spain, joined Azhar as guests at the inaugural function.

Rajpath Club of Ahmedabad is one of the leading clubs in India providing ultra modern amenities and facilities to its members in terms of sports and recreational activities.

In his welcome speech, Rajpath Club president Naginbhai G Patel said the club comprises 9,000 elite class members who have access to a unique mega event lawn, which can accommodate about 12,000 persons at a time and a synthetic jogging track. The club provides its members with modern facilities both in the field of entertainment and health.

The swimming pool with ''toddler's pool'' is designed as per the international standards having underwater optical lighting, most modern sand filtration plant with ozonation.

The health club has unique world class equipment like Vibro Gym, being introduced for the first time in India. The tennis courts are synthetically surfaced with new flood lights, Mr Patel said.

Azharuddin, in his speech, said he was very happy to visit Ahmedabad after a span of 8 years. Rajpath Club has facilities of international standards comparable with other elite clubs of the country and abroad.

Dean Jones said he was very happy to see a number of people jogging on the track and exercising in the gym. He was surprised to see people's awareness in respect to health.

Club's vice president Dr Jayant H Patel, Hon secretary J B Patel, joint secretary Sandeepbhai N Brahmbhatt and other managing committee members were also present.
