Badal to inaugurate Haryana State Games

Sirsa, Sep 28 (UNI) The coordination committee of Haryana State Games today asserted that the Games would be organised smoothly without the ''support'' of the Haryana Government.

Haryana Olympic Association, headed by Abhey Singh Chautala, is organising the games at Ch Devi Lal Vidya Peeth here from October 2 to 4.

The coordination committe meeting, which held here decided that Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony while former Haryana Chief Minister and President of Indian National Lok Dal Ch Om Parkash Chautala will preside over the function on the inaugural day.

At the closing ceremony on October 4, Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai will be the chief guest and distribute the prizes. Ajay Singh Chautala, Member Parliament and president of the Table Tennis Federation of India will preside over at the closing ceremony.

Punjab Information Minister Vikram Singh Majithia will be the guest of honour.

The HOA General Secretary Mahinder Singh Malik, Director General of Ch Devi Lal Vidya Peeth Kuldeep Singh Dhindsa, Organising Secretary Maj K K Sarohi and Director Competitions H S Bhadu were among those attended the coordination committee meeting.Dr Malik said that more than 3,500 players from all 20 districts of the state would compete in 21 sports disciplines in athletics, wrestling, volleyball, basketball, football, hockey, boxing, shooting, archery, kho-kho, tug of war, table tennis, kabaddi, badminton, cycling, fencing, karate, throwball, wushu and weightlifting.

A tradition exhibition crowd-pulling match (circle kabaddi) between Haryana and Punjab will be the highlight of the opening day.

Malik said, ''We will look after well the players and technical officials despite budget constraints. A nutritious diet will be served to all participants and officials.'' ''The HOA has written letters to all general managers of Haryana Roadways to give 75 per cent concession in bus fares to all participants as per rules of the State Government. The District Rural Games Organising Committee is also actively involved in making arrangements,'' Malik said.
