With this, Bagan avenged an earlier 3-2 defeat at the hands of Viva in Kolkata last month, taking their total points tally to 17 against the hosts' 12.
Capitalising on a cross from Habibur Rehman Mondal, Captain Baichung Bhutia scored the first goal for the guests in the 35th minute, while substitute Isfaq Ahmed netted the second goal outwitting rival Captain Khelemba Singh just before the final whistle.

In their attempt to get back into the match, the hosts failed to convert many chances that came their way in the game, clearly dominated by the Kolkata side.

Bagan's foreign recruit Douglas Silva Dos Santos was declared man of the match for his fine performance.

Viva would meet Mahindra United in their home match here on January 24.
