Bangladesh at the Olympics: Past Records, Medal Tally, Paris Olympics 2024 Contingents

Since 1984 Bangladesh has participated in every Summer Olympics after getting recognition in 1980. Though they never competed in any of the Olympic Winter Games. This will be the nation’s eleventh appearance at the Summer Olympics.

In the last 10 Olympics, from 1984 to 2020, 49 athletes have represented the South Asian country so far, in the field of archery, swimming, shooting, track and field, gymnastics and golf. In the Olympic 2024 in Paris, five more competitors will represent Bangladesh in four different sports. At the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016, Bangladesh had its highest number of representations where 7 athletes participated in 5 sports.

Throughout their history most of Bangladesh’s athletes got their Olympic spot by wild card invitations or tripartite invitations but, golfer Siddikur Rahman was the first who earn his spot directly in the Olympics 2016.

Bangladesh at Olympics: What Are the Chances of Bangladesh in the Paris Olympics?

Like their past Olympic campaigns, in Paris also it is very unlikely that Bangladesh will have the chance to grab a medal. There are expectations in the Archery from Sagor Islam based on his performances in the recent international tournaments. But, as of now, it seems Bangladesh have to wait for the next Olympics to get their first Olympic medal.
