Barcelona to sign Brazilian star Neymar?

London, Aug 1: Barcelona vice-president Jose Maria Bartomeu has said the club is interested in Brazilian star Neymar and will attempt to sign the Santos forward this summer.

"Neymar? We would all like to see him joining after the Olympics. If he decides to come to Europe we'll try to make it Barca," he said

The 20-year old forward is currently playing at the London Olympics with the national team and has already impressed with his sublime skill during matches against Egypt and Belarus.

Barca's long term target, Neymar, scored a goal against Egypt before shining in the match with Belarus, in which he scored a single goal and turned provider twice in the 3-1 win.

Neymar's spectacular free kick at Old Trafford against Belarus was the highlight of the men's football competition at the games while his clever back heel found another rising star and new Chelsea signing Oscar who slotted home with his first touch.

Neymar has been a target for top clubs across Europe but the forward is willing to stay with Santos until the 2014 FIFA World Cup which will be hosted by Brazil.

The 20-year-old striker has been compared with the likes of Argentinean superstar Lionel Messi. However, any possible transfer would cost the Catalans a huge amount of money as Neymar still has two years until his contract ends.
