Basketball: Indian origin Sim Bhullar creates history in NBA

Sacramento (California), April 8: The newly-signed Sacramento Kings player Sim Bhullar created history Tuesday night when he became the first player of Indian descent to play in an NBA game.

Bhullar, who was born in Ontario, Canada made his presence felt with 16.1 seconds remaining in the Kings' 116-111 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 7ft 5inches Canada-born backup centre signed a 10-day contract to join the Kings' team on April 2, 2015 and said he hoped he could help grow the game in India.

"It was a great feeling and I'm happy to be kind of an ambassador," he said on BBC Sport.com

"Hopefully more kids growing up will see there's a player of Indian descent on the court and we can get a couple more Indian NBA players,"he added.
