Batsmen's camp begins in NCA, Bangalore
Bangalore, June 9 (UNI) The four-day camp for Indian batsmen, bound for twin tours of Ireland and England later this month, began at the National Cricket Academy here today.
The camp, with main thrust on fitness and training, is being overseen by Team India physical trainer Gregory King. It began in the right earnest but without Sachin Tendulkar and Wasim Jaffer.
While Tendulkar is yet to arrive in the city, Jaffar was not well enught to attend the first day's exercises.
Four Indian batsmen Yuvraj Singh, Saurav Ganguly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virender Sehwag did not figure in the camp as they are away in Chennai playing the Afro-Asia Cup series.
Speedster S Sreesanth, who missed the 'bowlers camp' held at Infosys Global Training Centre campus in Mysore that concluded yesterday due to the Afro-Asia Twenty-20 tie in Bangalore on Tuesday, also joined the camp.
The other players attending the camp are: Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Dinesh Mongia, Robin Uthappa, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Kaarthik, Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Kaif and S Badrinath.
