BCCI secretary Jay Shah has announced that the Indian Cricket Board will extend its hands of support to the Olympic contingent for the Paris Olympics 2024.
The quadrennial global extravaganza starts in Paris from July 27 and India will be hoping for a bigger outcome in it. A plethora of Indian athletes are set to perform as the country will be eagerly waiting to witness their favourite stars fighting for the prestigious achievements.

Ahead of that, Jay Shah took to social media on Sunday (July 21) and stated that BCCI will support the Indian contingent by providing financial assistance to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). The apex body of Indian cricket will provide Rs 8.5 crore to IOA for the campaign in France.
"I am proud to announce that the @BCCI will be supporting our incredible athletes representing #India at the 2024 Paris Olympics. We are providing INR 8.5 Crores to the IOA for the campaign. To our entire contingent, we wish you the very best. Make India proud! Jai Hind," Shah wrote on his X profile, formerly known as Twitter.
The initiative has already been praised by the netizens, who hailed BCCI for their benevolent gesture. Incidentally, cricket is set to be included in the 2028 Olympics, which will take place in Los Angeles.
BCCI is the richest cricket board and recently awarded Rs 125 crore to the T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team. But their gesture to the Olympic athletes is something to admire.
Numerous elite athletes will represent India in the Paris Olympics. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who won the Gold medal in Tokyo, will be hoping to replicate the same this year. PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain are among the other Olympic medal winners who will be representing the country in Paris. A total of 117 athletes will represent India in the Paris Olympics this year.
India clinched 7 medals in the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, and the aim will definitely be to eclipse the previous best and reach new heights.
