BDFA members tender en masse resignation

Bangalore, Aug 5 (UNI) Bangalore District Football Association (BDFA) members, including the President, Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Treasurer, today submitted their resignation en masse to the Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA), alleging that the game is facing a 'slow death' due to the ''unfair'' and ''unethical'' methods adopted by the KSFA.

In the letter addressed to the KSFA President, BDFA Chairman K G S Alva and 12 others alleged that ''the KSFA, formed for managing and developing the game of football in the state, has forgotten its role and was involved in curbing the activities and functioning of the BDFA through unethical methods.'' The KSFA was a cash-rich organisation earning nearly one crore per annum, but gave a paltry sum of Rs 1.5 lakh as grant to BDFA. BDFA carried out more than 90 per cent of the activities associated with the game in the state, but the grant was much lesser than the sum spent by the KSFA towards conveyance and travelling expenditure of its office bearers, that amounted to Rs 2.67 lakh, or towards the inter-district tournament conducted (Rs 2.86 lakh) or the coaching camp conducted for the under-14 boys (2.40 lakh), the letter added.

Accusing the KSFA of managing its affairs through rowdy elements, they alleged that ''we are willing to devote our time and resources for the game, but not at the risk of our lives. That is why, we are submitting our resignation.'' UNI MSP SJ PK RN2121
