Becks makes guest appearance on kids' show Sesame Street

London, Apr 29 : David Beckham's bid to take over the entertainment world continues - with the soccer ace appearing on hit kids' TV show Sesame Street.

Becks ventured on to the famous children's show last week to film an episode with the fluffy red host, Elmo.

The former England skipper was invited to the hit American programme to introduce a new word to Elmo and the millions of youngsters who watch at home.

Midfielder Becks went for "persistence" as his word of choice - and explained why it was important to him.

"David has always been a huge fan of the show. When he was a kid he watched it, like a lot of people, and knew all the characters. He was more than happy to go on," The Sun quoted a source, as saying.

"He loves dealing with kids and thought it would be a great way to get through to them. He has developed a great understanding speaking to children with his own boys and through his coaching at the Beckham soccer schools.

"He had a great time filming it, a real laugh," the source added.

Sesame Street, with puppets created by Jim Henson, started in 1969 and has become one of the longest running US TV shows, broadcasting more than 4,000 episodes.
